Bruce Wilson is a fine art photographer whose work reflects his broad interests that have evolved from capturing the beauty found in nature’s smaller landscapes and serendipitous encounters to intentionally combining historical images with contemporary settings or individuals. These interests and the challenge of portraying them in an original manner balance the technical work he performed during his career as a mechanical engineer.

Wilson credits an undersubscribed photo review class as revealing to him some of the ways images could be made more cohesive and more interesting. Since that class, he has pursued his interests with vigor. In 2019 he had a solo exhibition at the Newton Free Library. In the summer of 2020, he showed 25 works from his “Urban Ponds” series at Harvard University’s Arnold Arboretum (online due to Covid). He has exhibited in numerous juried exhibitions and serves on the board of his local art association. He participates in Newton Open Studios and early in the pandemic co-created a one-day art fair with 10 artists. An active volunteer, he has supported Newton Neighbors, a Covid-prompted mutual-aid network started by four women in March 2020, the Centre Street Food Pantry, and cultural organizations in Newton, MA. Other interests include outdoor activities and learning French.
