Bruce Wilson is a fine art photographer whose work reflects his broad interests in the beauty found in nature’s smaller landscapes and serendipitous encounters. These interests and the challenge of portraying them in an original manner balance the technical work that has made up most of his career as a mechanical engineer.

Wilson credits an undersubscribed photo review class as revealing to him some of the ways images could be made more cohesive and more interesting. Since that class, he has pursued his interests with vigor. In the fall of 2020, he showed 25 works from his “Urban Ponds” series at Harvard University’s Arnold Arboretum (online due to Covid). Recently he has exhibited in juried exhibitions sponsored by the Griffin Museum (third place award), Cambridge Art Association, and the New England School of Photography. In the summer of 2019, he showed 19 works from his “Fog and Flow” series at the Newton Free Library in Newton, MA, and received two honorable mention awards from the Newton Art Association. He has also shown his work in a solo show, “Musicians at Work and Intimate Landscapes from Portugal” at a large coffeehouse galley, a juried show at an art festival, a juried show at a community art gallery, and several group shows with his local camera club.

Most recently, he has a photograph that is part of “The Focused Eye: Our Unique Views,” an outdoor photography exhibition by the Boston Camera Club. This exhibition comprises 88 photographs along a 250-foot banner at the Public Green on Fan Pier in Boston’s Seaport District (intersection of Northern Ave. and Marina Park Dr.).
