Darcy is an artist and art therapist, currently working out of her basement studio. She works in oils and drawing media, but mostly focuses on encaustics in the past ten years. These are paints made of melted Damar varnish crystals (tree sap), beeswax, and ground natural pigments. The paint is applied in melted form, then affixed with heat; the Greek word Encaustic means “to burn in.” Collage elements such as string can be added.

Recently, Darcy has shown work at the Atlantic Gallery through Fort Point Lending Gallery, WBUR, and has been juried into shows at The Bromfield Gallery and Galatea Fine Art (NOS). Her work is housed in many private and public collections including Lowell Community Health Center and the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

Darcy is inspired by her journeys into wilderness, including colors and textures that can be found in sunsets, flora, rocks, and the ocean. Her work as a therapist also enters into the emotionally expressive elements of her art.
