Lauren Abramsky Comando creates Zentangle drawings, a visual meditation based on surface designs, from hard edged geometric to organic botanical inspirations. Using the Zentangle Method of drawing, she melds these patterns into moving line expressions.
Traditionally, Zentangle drawings are drawn on a small white tile in pen and ink. However, her recent works have exploded in size and color. On exhibit will be recent drawings in a variety of sizes, note cards and small books covered with Zentangle creations and other hand crafted notebooks.
Lauren also works in fiber. For 2023, she sewed monochromatic handbags, automatically closing with the help of gravity and made from one continuous durable cord. She also weaves over-sized cotton squares in vibrant colors.
Lauren is a retired Newton Public School educator and creative spirit who experiments in various different mediums. She has studied paper making, paper engineering, bookmaking and fiber arts, as well as ceramics and woodworking at Haystack Mountain School of Craft.
