I paint primarily from nature because I enjoy the feeling of being outside in every season, noticing changes in color, light and texture. New England- particularly Cape Cod, the North Shore of Massachusetts and mid-coast Maine- is my inspiration. No two days are ever the same. There is a spontaneity and immediacy of feel that can be captured on location , “alla prima,” with direct observation. I occasionally paint still lifes, but these also remain within the theme of nature. The colors and textures of fruits and vegetables have their own fascination and provide wonderful displays of color and texture. Last summer I enjoyed the privilege of painting in Provence.

I have studied with Alex Dobkin, Ed Stitt, David Curtis, Leo Mancini-Hresko, Judy Ryan and others. My work is in private collections throughout New England and in France.
