I am interested in pottery that is blissful; beautiful objects with substance that weave into our daily lives through use. Pottery decorates our living spaces with character and elegance. Coffee cups celebrate our morning drinking ritual; a vase adorns the mantel when not in use; a bowl with slight texture inside allows our eyes to discover uniqueness within glaze. Pottery is a reflection and celebration of us and lives. I aim to create pieces that are not only functional but bold, bright colors that call attention and start conversation.

I make pottery out of speckled stoneware clay. It is soft and responsive to the human; when fired it becomes robust and sturdy. It is this responsive nature of clay that continues to interest me. It responds to your touch, and then you respond to it. The same happens in the firing process with glaze materials and the atmosphere of the kiln. Clay is a loyal and demanding medium for the creative journey of making.
I am in love with making things with my hands. The need for beautiful domestic bits and pieces and the instinctual drive to crafts things are marvelous partners for idea and desire. Functional pottery supports and symbolizes our intimate rituals of nourishment and celebration.
