Gary Younker was born 1951 in Waltham, Massachusetts. His art education started in the Newton School system, but he has over the years attended local and regional art classes. He attended the Plen- Air groups and worked with many local artists such as, Robert Douglas Hunter. Gary received art classes from Mr. Hunter from 1997 to 2011. Bob Hunter, of the Boston School, believes painting is to pursue and honest observation of nature. To see all of nature at a glance and to see all of the parts related to the whole visual experience. Gary paints still life’s and landscapes based on this observation of nature. Gary has been a member of the Waltham Arts Council for more than ten years and served as a board member from 1997-2000. He is a member of the Newton Art Association (NAA) and in 2008 won Honorable mention, 2017 won the Molly L. & at the NAA Endowment Award Show. Mr. Younker’s first one man show was in the halls at Newton High School in 1968. Since then his art has been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions as well as exhibitions sponsored by both, the Waltham Arts Council and the Newton Art Association. Many of Gary’s paintings hang in local collectors homes throughout New England.
