Born in China, Robert Hsiung studied art from early age. Immigrated to the US to pursue college education, he continued painting watercolor till his 20’s, before stopping for 30 years to concentrate on architecture. Later, while still working full time, he resumed painting. He combined watercolor with architecture and teaching for another 30 years till present time. Hsiung is an award-winner in all of his 3 pursuits, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, teacher at the Boston Architectural College, and Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society. His goal in painting is to capture life’s elusive moments in a variety of subject matter – landscape, seascape, cityscape, interior, portrait, people and still life. He renders them realistically with strong feelings and fluid brush strokes, echoing his background in Chinese calligraphy. He has demonstrated and juried art shows. His works have been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions, published in magazines, and collected by individuals and by corporations
