I have always been interested in the layers and complexities of life. This is reflected in my multi-layered, one of a kind monotypes. Each of my prints is the result of many trips through the press. Recently I have become interested in reduction block printing and sometimes “cut through” my prints to reveal other prints underneath. I also incorporate bits of gel plate produced prints. My hand printed shirts are wearable monotypes. The natural world, my family history and Judaic imagery inform my work.
An art educator as well as an artist, I taught in the Newton Public Schools for 40 years and currently teach at the New Art Center. I have learned as much from my students and colleagues as I did in my undergraduate and graduate work at Brandeis, Harvard, MIT and the Massachusetts College of Art. I am a member of the Nature Printing Society, the Newton Art Association, the Monotype Guild of New England and the National Art Education Association. My work has been exhibited extensively throughout New England.
