I like to paint a variety of subjects in watercolor and I often look for those where I can experiment with textural effects; pottery, weathered wooden baskets, rusted vessels, rock formations, even feathers and wings. When I want to amplify texture I’ll add acrylic ink to my watercolor washes. The inks intensify surface depth, pushing beyond the smoothness of watercolor alone. There are endless surprises in watercolor painting. Inspiration and exploration merge to create new discoveries. As a watercolor teacher I delight in sharing the adventure with my students.
